Foraminose

Foraminose is a series of hand-crafted lamps created by artist and artisan Andrea Riva. Beyond mere objects, Foraminose is the result of Riva's physical and philosophical research on light and surfaces. I have been approached by Riva and asked to create an identity that could enhance the spiritual value of his project. Riva works with waste materials, particularly copper. He uses copper tubes and pierces them manually to create objects that radiate light in unexpected ways from the many irregular holes.The resulting identity is rooted in the very appearance of the objects. I designed a bespoke wordmark that resembles the aesthetic of the lamps and paired it with a vibrant orange that refers to the material.
